Starting today a new FRITZ! Lab is available as a download in preparation for the next release (FRITZ!OS 8.50) for the FRITZ!Box 5690 Pro: For the first time, users can get to know the Matter smart home standard. Matter can already be used today via the FRITZ!Smart Gateway. In future FRITZ! will thus offer two ways to control FRITZ! products via platforms such as Apple Home, Google Home or Amazon Alexa: Via the FRITZ!Box 5690 Pro in the FRITZ! Lab and via the FRITZ!Smart Gateway. Configurable DNS filters and automatic prioritization already introduced in the latest FRITZ! Lab for the FRITZ!Box 7690 are now available for the FRITZ!Box 5690 Pro as well. The latest FRITZ! Lab versions can be tried out at fritz.com/labor.
Future-ready thanks to Matter: FRITZ!Box 5690 Pro embraces new standard
FRITZ! consistently focuses on interoperability and champions the integration of the Matter smart home standard. With the new FRITZ! Lab, the FRITZ!Box 5690 Pro is the first model to offer Matter support as a Matter bridge. This makes FRITZ! Smart Home devices and compatible smart home devices from other manufacturers registered with the FRITZ!Box accessible to a Matter network. Consequently, smart home devices from FRITZ! like the FRITZ!Smart Thermo 302 can be integrated into Matter networks from other manufacturers. In this way, FRITZ! users benefit from the enhanced voice control and smart applications from Apple Home, Google Home and Amazon Alexa.
FRITZ Lab: Fresh from Development
Beta updates from the FRITZ! Lab contain new functions fresh from the Development team, giving users a preview of the upcoming FRITZ!OS updates. At the same time, the latest improvements for security and energy efficiency are regularly added to the Lab versions. The FRITZ!
