IFA 2026 is showcasing the premiere of the FRITZ!Box DSL/Fiber 7-90, which is launching a future-oriented new FRITZ!Box generation. The new design combines elegant simplicity with robust reliability and is setting a new standard for the digital home. The product of years of experience, extensive research, and the precise analysis of users' real needs, with this model FRITZ! is redefining the design of the FRITZ!Box. Innovative cable routing enables a high degree of flexibility for the placement of the router, while a clear, simple usability layout reduced to just one button and one LED creates a minimalist aesthetic. On the technology side, the FRITZ!Box DSL/Fiber 7-90 is about brilliant performance: It supports both fiber optics and DSL, offering ultra-fast tri-band Wi-Fi 7 with up to 12.2 Gbit/s and lightning-fast multi-gigabit WAN/LAN connections. As a versatile smart home hub it seamlessly integrates the DECT and Zigbee standards for multi-functional applications. Complemented by the usual wide range of telephony and VPN features plus the powerful FRITZ!OS, it offers the users of today and tomorrow a stable, secure all-round networking package. Like all FRITZ! models, the FRITZ!Box DSL/Fiber 7-90 is developed and produced in Europe, thus making an active contribution to strengthening Europe’s resilience in the digital infrastructure sector. Visitors to IFA can experience the new FRITZ!Box design of the first model, which has already been nominated for the German Design Award, live from 4 to 8 September at stand 111, hall 7c of the IFA.

Sleek, elegant and robust: The new FRITZ!Box design

The housing of the new FRITZ!Box flagship has a design that combines simplicity, clarity and versatility, and is deliberately inspired by the name, the ‘Box’. With its flexible positioning, whether upright on a shelf, on the floor, or even mounted on the wall, it blends in with any room or environment and is very robust. This robustness has been tested intensively and ensures that the device can be relied on over its long service life. Even with its new housing design, the integrated wall-mounting system ensures that it fits existing drill holes, like the ones from the very popular FRITZ!Box 7590 model.

The operation has been reduced to the absolutely essential: one button and one LED. A further central element of the new minimalistic design is the innovative cable management. All cables are routed in a structured, protected, invisible system that adds to the overall aesthetic of the FRITZ!Box DSL/Fiber 7-90. By moving the ports to the bottom, the new FRITZ!Box design allows the 11 antennas to be optimally positioned in the upper part of the FRITZ!Box housing. This ensures optimal transmitter power for many mobile devices, regardless of how the FRITZ!Box is placed.

Inside the FRITZ!Box is an efficient cooling system that dissipates heats without the need for an active fan. This principle of passive cooling has a direct impact on the energy consumption. With a power consumption of just 12 watts (average power consumption), it is the most energy-efficient FRITZ!Box ever developed by FRITZ! in the DSL and fiber performance class.

Brilliant performance for fiber optics, DSL and Wi-Fi

As a true multi-broadband device, the new FRITZ!Box supports both DSL and fiber optics – with or without ONT – and consistently carries forward the technical advances of the FRITZ!Box Pro models. With tri-band Wi-Fi 7, the FRITZ!Box DSL/Fiber 7-90 transmits on all three frequency bands. With 5760 Mbit/s on the 6- and 5-GHz bands and 688 Mbit/s on the 2.4-GHz band, plus MLO support, it ensures top-class Wi-Fi performance. For wired connectivity, a 2.5-Gbit/s WAN/LAN port, a 2.5-Gbit/s LAN port, and two additional gigabit LAN ports are available. Integrated DECT and Zigbee make it the central hub for telephony and smart home applications, both at home and in the office. With the MyFRITZ!App, the new FRITZ!Box can be set up in no time, and the comprehensive FRITZ!OS 8.50 included with the FRITZ!Box DSL/Fiber 7-90 offers users a wide range of features in the areas of security, performance, and smart home.

A new name – clear and recognizable

With the FRITZ!Box DSL/Fiber 7-90, FRITZ! is introducing a new naming scheme for FRITZ!Box models. The new naming scheme follows a clear logic: first the type of connection (Fiber, DSL, Cable, Mobile, WAN), then a combination of numbers representing the Wi-Fi generation and the product series. This way, retailers and end customers can see right away which FRITZ!Box is suitable for which connection, including details on the Wi-Fi generation and range of functions.
